The National Conference of Pharmaceutical Organizations (NCPO) highlighted important issues to keep the supply of medicines safe in the United States.  According to Lucinda Maine, Executive Vice President and CEO of the American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy, “ Pharmacists are taught that medication safety is their highest professional priority.  The integrity of the distribution system is essential in the fulfillment of this mission.”

Among the issues that NCPO discussed were the characteristics of  an electronic system to trace prescription medicines in the supply chain.  To read more about NCPO and its recommendations, look here.

For several life threatening conditions including COPD, Cornea transplant success, and all adverse side effects and severe allergic reactions from foreign country manufacturers yet distributed by American companies, I need prescription drugs manufactured IN the U.S.A. I have been investigating this problem for at least six months without success. The prescriptions are mostly manufactured in India, Israel, Croatia, Puerto Rico, Canada, Germany and Phillippines. I spoke with a pharmacist at FDA, and I was told that the prescriptions are regulated by the FDA, and any problems I have that I should contact my physicians. My physicians do not know the intricacy of the pathway to American manufacturers. I do NOT know! I have spoken with pharmacists from Walgreens mail prescriptions, Hannaford Pharmacy, CVS, Walmart, and Medical Center Pharmacy. They all tell me that they have contracts with their wholesalers and can not provide me with American manufactured drugs. How do I get safe American manufactured prescriptions?
